Two Eras of Jupiter Building, Two Kinds of Vent Run

Roof Terminations Change How the Job Is Planned
When the exhaust leaves through the roof instead of a wall, three things shift at once.
- The run is longer and largely vertical, so lint that would have dropped out of a short horizontal duct has to be carried the whole way up
- The termination is out of sight, so nobody notices a restriction from the driveway the way they would with a wall cap
- Roof caps often carry a hinged damper or screen that lint can bridge across, and debris or nesting material can settle in from above

Our Jupiter community is HOA managed. Who arranges access to the exterior vent?
For attached homes the dryer and the interior run are almost always the owner's responsibility, while the roof or exterior wall may sit with the association. Check your governing documents first. If your board has to approve roof access, we would rather schedule around that approval than arrive and find the work blocked.
Does salt air near the Jupiter coast affect vent hardware?
It can. Exterior caps, fasteners and damper flaps on homes close to the water corrode faster than the same parts a few miles inland, and a stiff or seized damper holds lint right at the mouth of the run.
